CSD carries out high quality, cutting edge research around environment and development issues, spanning from local perspectives to global agendas. We work across issues like climate change, sustainable agriculture, green growth, natural resource management and approach these issues from a range of perspectives from both natural and social sciences. Our research is now primarily focused around achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
CSD offers short courses and training on Sustainable Development, Sustainable Livelihoods, Organic Farming, Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Integrated Water Resources Management, Community based Disaster Management, Climate Change Adaptation, Green Business, and Interdisciplinary Research. These courses are suitable for university and college teachers, researchers, business, bank and finance sector professionals, water sector professionals, as well as NGO professionals.
CSD hosts international MSc and PhD students and visiting researchers for their empirical research in Bangladesh. It provides international students with research and academic guidance and translation facilities. CSD engages young scientists and fresh graduates as interns/teaching assistants/research assistants in its research projects.
CSD organizes sharing and exchange forums with insiders (ULAB staff and students) and the outsiders (networks, sectoral forums, and academic institutions) through seminars, conferences, round table dialogues and publications on a regular basis. All these activities contribute significantly to policy processes of development initiatives with the government, business sectors, and NGOs.
