ULAB Faculty Member Md. Faisal Imran Undertakes Academic Mobility in Switzerland
Md. Faisal Imran, Senior Research Associate cum Faculty at the Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), participated in an academic mobility programme in Switzerland under the Knowledge2Action Mobility Grant, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
During the mobility programme, he represented ULAB and contributed to international academic and research activities related to sustainable development and the Sundarbans. He presented research outcomes from ULAB’s flagship ENGAGE4Sundarbans project and engaged with researchers and institutions working on transdisciplinary approaches to sustainability and community resilience.
As part of the programme, Imran visited the headquarters of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Gland, the Graduate Institute Geneva, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Bern. He also participated in academic seminars and a collaborative writing workshop in Gryon, Switzerland.
At the University of Lausanne (UNIL), he conducted research under the supervision of Professor René Véron and participated in academic discussions on sustainability, community resilience, and transdisciplinary research. These engagements provided opportunities for knowledge exchange and strengthened connections between researchers and institutions in Bangladesh, Switzerland, and the wider region.
The mobility programme contributed to advancing international research collaboration and provided a platform for sharing ULAB's research on the Sundarbans and sustainable development with international academic and development communities.
A reflection on the mobility experience, titled “From the Sundarbans Delta to the Alps: Advancing Transdisciplinary Collaboration for Transformative Change,” was subsequently featured in the Knowledge2Action Asia Hub.
