Sabiha Ahmed Diba is a Research Associate at the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) of ULAB. She completed her graduation and post-graduation in Disaster and Human Security Management from Bangladesh University of Professionals. She has almost 2 years of working experience for different NGOs and INGOs. She has conducted research on Indigenous Knowledge as Adaptation strategies against cyclone impact on agriculture in Baliatoli Union, Patuakhali District, Bangladesh for her Masters Thesis and also “the Assessment of the Community Resilience Against River Bank Erosion for Kazipur Upazila, Sirajganj district” in her undergrad research project. She has also experience in working on the Flood Risk and Protection Study of the Padma River near Maowa back in 2016 and Sirajgonj River Bank Erosion Protection Embankment and Settlement Study in 2015.
Ms. Sabiha has worked for a National NGO- Bangladesh Protibandhi Kallyan Somity (BPKS), as “Research Officer” in a project named “Covid-19 Affected Persons with Disabilities Rights to Rehabilitation (CAPRR)” funded by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) of Switzerland Government. She has successfully and efficiently assisted in completing the project activities that included providing nutrition supports to children with disabilities, providing capital supports to persons with disabilities (PWDs), conducted research solely on the “Effects of Covid-19 on Persons with Disabilities in Bangladesh” along with successfully published the research as a journal article in an international journal. Besides, she also did an internship in International Center for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) and worked as a “Research Intern” in the Centre for Disability in Development (CDD).
Her publications and research interest include Social Sciences, Disaster Management, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Public Health, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Women Empowerment, Child Rights, Human Security, Persons with disabilities (PWDs), Humanitarian Crisis, Emergency Response, etc.
